L’edizione 2018 dei “Grammys”, in scena nella notte eccezionalmente dal “Madison Square Garden” di New York, ha celebrato il trionfo di Bruno Mars, che con il suo “24K Magic” ha avuto la meglio nelle categorie “Album of the Year” e “Best R&B Album” mentre con l’omonima traccia e l’altra, “That’s What I Like”, è stato premiato rispettivamente come “Record of the Year”, “Song of the Year”, “Best R&B Performance”, “Best R&B Song”. Ha fatto incetta di grammofoni anche il rapper Kendrick Lamar, che ha aperto lo show e vinto con “DAMN.” come “Best Rap Album”, con “HUMBLE.” come “Best Rap Performance”, “Best Rap Song” e “Best Music Video” e con “LOYALTY.”, insieme a Rihanna, come “Best Rap/Sung Performance”.
Assente Ed Sheeran che ha comunque incassato ben due vittorie con “Divide” come “Best Pop Vocal Album” e “Shape of You” come “Best Pop Solo Performance”.. “Starboy” di “The Weeknd” è il “Best Urban Contemporary Album”.. e Shakira ha ringraziato sui social per il “Best Latin Pop Album” dato al suo “El Dorado”.
Doppio riconoscimento anche al film “La La Land”, la cui colonna sonora ha vinto come “Best Compilation Soundtrack For Visual Media” e “Best Score Soundtrack For Visual Media” mentre la “Best Song Written For Visual Media” è risultata essere “How Far I’ll Go” dalla colonna sonora del cartoon Disney, “Moana” (o “Oceania”)..
Sul palco si sono esibiti Sting e Shaggy, che vedremo prossimamente anche a “Sanremo 2018” con la loro “Don’t Make Me Wait” e Elton John, dopo l’annuncio di ritiro, al piano, con Miley Cyrus in “Tiny Dancer”.. ma un toccante omaggio musicale è stato reso anche alle vittime della strage di Las Vegas..
